Toradora and Akaneiro’s appeal is incest

In Akaneiro ni Somaru Saku, the “route that makes the most sense” according to Eclipse’s translator is the one with your biological sister. In the anime, this said sister is voiced by super popular Hirano Aya. So basically the appeal of the Akaneiro anime is incest with Hirano Aya.

I have decided that the appeal of Toradora is actually incest too. And no, I don’t mean Ryuuji’s mom. The main dynamic of the show seems to come from the relationship between Ryuuji and Taiga, and their relationship has been made built to be that of a parent and a child. Take into consideration that Ryuuji takes care of his mom, so when he meets Taiga, hears about her eating konbini food, sees no one else living at her house taking care of her, he assumes the role of her parent. He wakes her up, makes her breakfast and lunch, even sews together breast pads for her so she’ll fill in her swimsuit ’cause he doesn’t want her to fail! However Taiga is developing a thing for Ryuuji which means she’s falling for her parent-figure which basically means incest.

I think I could turn this into a whole “fascinating”(?) essay about exploring Japanese culture and individuality and the anime trope about being without parents and seeing the person living away from their parents as someone to look up to and go into how Tonagura at least had the decency to think up of some bullshit for that (bullshit that involved Fujikei, mind you), but lol effort.

  1. personally, i don’t think taiga and ryuuji are in a parent-sort-of relationship – -b

more like brothers and sisters…i think D:

Man, this show needs to just forget about doing anything with getting Taiga and Ryuuji together. The unwritten rule that the male and female leads HAVE to have a thing for each other in every show ever just plain doesn’t work in Toradora. It’s a far, far better show as long as there is zero romance between the two.

  3. :schneizeleffort: should be a main issue here.

  4. The people that watch Akaneiro for sure do it for the incest (though i was told it wasnt a biological?). However that doesnt mean it is the route that makes more sense nor the one the anime will take. Even if Hirano Aya is voicing that character, her competition is also voiced by someone super popular so cant use that as basis to call the ending.

Actually i believe Akaneiro is going to be best troll of the season when the sister gets dumped and the refreshing tsundere voiced by THE RIE wins the contest.

  5. miasmacloud :…jaka that’s still incest. MY POINT STANDS.

Now if only you can find /d/ material somehow in slice of life romance comedies too!

    brother-sister incest > father-daughter incest
    …- -b

also, the chances for the TVA of akaneiro having an incest ending is p. low, since it’s an ORIGINAL adaptation by FENG and it differs a lot from the game ;_; but i sincerely hope the director will make another ending as fabulous as school days :effort:

  6. Well, in all the developed countries there’s a trend of families having only one child, so for significant part of viewers brother/sister relationships are something… mythical. With no real experience, imagination can run wild and far, and in the end we get more and more incest-implying series which find their supporters for whom an imaginary sister is just an easily accessible girl…
