The closed beta sign-up for MegaTen is very, very serious

megatenclosedbetasignup

This is what the closed beta form on aeria’s MegaTen: Imagine page looks like. I was thinking maybe you hit submit and there’s another page, but uhhh nope. So, based on, this awesome form, I assume beta invites going to be given out based on random draw. Guess I should have tried bullshitting their very, very serious translator application instead to get beta access. I’m not particularly hyped up about Imagine because I played it back in it’s infancy on the Japanese servers, but I was thinking it would be next MMO I visit after Atlantica. D:

  1. Except the beta key distribution process lasts until December 31st. Not sure if this means the game itself won’t go online until New Years, or just that you have until then to redeem your code though.

  2. Someone from Aeria once e-mailed me about translating crap for them since I have been playing on the JP server for quite a while and have been translating patch notes and whatnot.

I rejected it on the basis that their idea of a translation is retarded. :P

Anyway, they are probably going to end up with this level of translation: http://globe.nemissa.info/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=21#p97

Will be “fun” seeing how many mass naked children pop up in the game.

The game is already failing in Japan. The number of people playing at the high levels have significantly reduced due to Cave’s wonderful idea of how item malls work: Hi, 4% chance to get an item off a lottery. It’s like fighting mobs for a rare drop, but with money!.

And the game has next to no content. I’ve run the same dungeon from 27 to 70 (sugi silver), then the same one from 70 to 85 (sugi gold) and will probably run ichigaya gold from 85 to 93, the current level cap. Just 5 more levels to grind in ichigaya gold…

I seriously doubt it will take off in America/Europe once the weeaboos realize what the game truly is about.

God knows why I’m still playing it…

  3. We gonna play this together koda. If my PC can handle it obv.

  4. I signed up for the beta a few days ago. I hardly suspect that I will get accepted.

  5. They’ve started sending out invites already. I just got one earlier today. That closed beta signup form indicates we’ll be able to do invites at some point, and if so I’ll send one your way.

  6. Is MegaTen a good franchise?

    • @Michael, IMo, yes… except for this MMO game. It’s known for its console RPG’s and I rather liked Digital Devil Saga. Part of the reason why I was so anxious to test out Imagine in Japanese is because it used the same art style as DDS. :ohdear:
