Edit: I fixed some of my summary. I totally forgot most of the names and wasn’t aware who the new characters were when I first wrote it, but a couple minutes on the webpage fixed it all for me. If I had known Eej was going to go spam link this places I would’ve put forth more effort at first. -v-;
The Tower of Druaga S2 picks up half a year after the end of the previous one. For the bulk of the episode, we play catch up with some of the returning cast and meet a “new” character, a child version of Kai.
Druaga S2 – 01: The Tower of Gilgamesh
Ever since Druaga was defeated, the tower became peaceful and has been renamed the Tower of Gilgamesh and the town of Meksia is the new capital. It’s a popular tourist spot which Fatina is working at trying to make a buck or two. She shows off her abilities as a fire mage, info dumps what I just told you, and tries to sell her magic items to the tourists. Seeing they’re uninterested, she moves onto the next tour spot, the viewing tower. Meanwhile, Kai is on the run from the one of the two factions which splits the country of Uruk. Her pursuer is Gremica of the Sumarl faction. (I’m not sure how to romanize the names.)
Sir Kelb and some more ex-Climbers are working at a tavern. Kelb treats cooking and table waiting like he does the battlefield, barking out orders like “PRIORITIZE THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE WINE!” and “FOOD PREPARATION! STANDBY!” and they refer to the additional dishes as “reinforcements”.
Some of the other workers pitifully comment on Kelb’s situation. They say he was fired from his post as the Commander of the Special Guard, but he overhears them and tells them that he quit on his own.
The Climber group was not recognized for their efforts and never got a reward. Earlier in the episode, Fatina tries to tell the visitors that she was among those who defeated Druaga and they go “cool” like it’s no big deal, they think it’s part of her tour guide act. A flashback shows that Kelb argued that they should be recognized and rewarded properly, else this could hurt the pride of their nation. Lady Amina suggests they spread a story that King Gilgamesh himself defeated Druaga. Gilgamesh allows this and Kelb is in disbelief over Gilgamesh’s actions.
Fatina is finished with work and drops by Kelb’s tavern. After she’s out of ears range, some of the workers comment to each other how she’s not the same as she was before. She has less energy than when she was a Climber. Personally I think she’s a hung up about Neeba being a liar and the shit about Kally dying and the promise about his hometown still. However Fatina is voiced by Horie Yui so I feel no sympathy for her. :D Fatina yells at Jil because he’s been staying in his room and drinking all day when Kelb is letting them crash at his tavern for free. He corrects her, sort of, by informing her that he’s been drinking tomato juice.
Jil and Fatina get an emo info dump scene where they talk about how things have changed. I’m calling it an info dump ’cause it just repeats changes like the tower name and the capital move. After, Jil and Fatina decide to go out for some entertainment. They wind up seeing a play which hits too close to home for them because it reminds them of Kaaya and Neeba. They decide to go see a wrestling match, Captain Morrow vs Black Tiger, instead. The Golden Knights are still chasing the child Kai around town and she wanders into the wrestling match. During the match, Fatina and Jil talk about the play they just saw, and ask each other if they’re still hung up about Neeba and Kaaya. Fatina denies this claiming to have forgotten about him. Jil thinks Fatina is touching him, but it’s actually the child Ki trying to hide underneath them. The Golden Knights take note of the child and their leader, Uragon, commands his underlings to seal the exits and get the girl even if they have to kill people in the process.
Fatina and Jil think she looks like someone, but they don’t get to properly think it over as the Golden Knights immediately rush them and demand they hand her over. Of course, Fatina and Jil aren’t about to hand her over. They manage to use the wrestling match to their advantage. The winner, Captain Morrow, declares a free for all fight in honor of his victory, with the winner earning 1k gilda. This announcement turns the arena into chaos for the Golden Knights. Jil, Fatina and the child Kai manage to escape with Captain Morrow, who is actually Utu. (We see his real face, though you can tell by the voice.) Gremica and her assistant, Akra, are watching nearby. They don’t want to let the child Kai escape so easily, she’s like a key to the tower. They allow them to go, only because they want to see the party suffer. The young girl introduces herself as Kai, and she wants Jil to take her to the top of the tower.

New characters and stuff
Child Kai –
Gremica – Part of the Sumarl faction of Uruk, she wants to make use of Child Kai. The other faction is called the Babylim faction. (I assume these are more Babylonian terms? Not sure.)
Akra – Gremica’s assistant.
Uragon – Leader of the Golden Knights.

Dunno about the rest of you, but I was hoping that Druaga S1 would have just been a straight through comedy series. The ending and the cliff hanger made me rage a little though. The majority of the episode was a “get people back together + give them an excuse to be back in the tower” so we’re (hopefully) off to a quick start with Druaga here. I’m hoping we don’t have to re-watch them climb the whole damn tower for the majority of the show though. There was a lack of the Mage Golfer and his Caddy, Melt and Koopa. They’re on the character list though so maybe they’ll show up again. Also I assume that King Gilgamesh is the third betrayal that season 1 spoke of. The end of season 1 just made it look like he was gaining revenge on someone who tried to kill him, but Jil mentions that his behavior has gotten odd…
Ep summaries aren’t really my thing, just doing this ’cause no MMO atm.

Man this totally sucks for Fatina. She’s totally not going to hook up with Jil and he’ll end up with Kaaya. Maybe Fatina will end up with Neeba (who deserves to just die imo), which will be the most horrible end ever but logic dictates that it’s the only option leftover.
Oh well, the intro episode wasn’ tso bad. I hope Norio Wakamoto the Door comes back though.
