SubscribeExamples of re-releasing:
- Positive Example: People who re-release Crunchyroll subs with better video. (Shinji, Underwater, etc.)
- Stupid Example: Yuki re-releasing Haruhi with subs at 720p when the video looks like shit.
- Troll Example: Darksoul-Subs has been doing this since their first release. They take other releases and add new styling then re-release them. However I believe they’re bored trolls and not delusional enough to try to claim “Oh we made this”. Evidence being that they have no form of communication of which you could go harass them with.
- Delusional Example: Hatsuyuki taking CoalGG’s Umineko 1 script and claiming that the script is actually theirs.
As you can tell from Ji-Hi.net, lines in gg’s and Hatsuyuki’s releases are the exact same. And if you compare those lines from the earlier CoalGG release, you find even more similar lines. For reference, here is the CoalGG script and here is the Hatsuyuki script. If you open Hatsuyuki’s script up, you find my typesetting commented out on the first lines of Hatsuyuki’s script.

Pretty obviously stolen. But that’s odd. See, Hatsuyuki actually has a translator since they previously released stuff that no one else had subbed yet (read: had no one to copy from). So I went into their IRC room to be an asshole.

To some extent one might think they’re just bullshitting, but then Jaka went to try to collect money for being one of the two translators who actually did Umineko 1, and he promptly got kickbanned. Apparently Hatsuyuki is quite butthurt about this.
However, I wasn’t banned, and my translator offer is still up in the air. I will translate every show that’s being subbed this season, just don’t make me install MSN.
